Year 6

Welcome to the class page for Year 6. Our teacher is Mr Spens, but Mrs Backholer, Mrs Vye, Mrs Singleton, Mrs Thomas and Mrs Taylor all work with us as well during the week!

We are currently working very hard on our big topic on the World War 2 and are very much looking forward to our trip to London in March, where amongst other things, we will visit the Imperial War Museum. Check back here to see some photos from the trip!

Year 6 London Trip 2010

Some photos from our recent trip to London are here. The children had a fantastic time, visiting the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, riding on a sightseeing river cruise before visiting the Imperial War Museum on the Friday.

Year 6 Netball Tournament at Wellsway School

On Wednesday 10th February, Year 6 took part in a netball tournament with other Keynsham primary schools at Wellsway. During Term 3, we have been lucky to have coaching in High 5 Netball from a coach, Ali. The children got to put their new found skills into practice in some matches and did fantastically well.

Persuasive Writing

In Literacy recently, we have been learning about persuasive writing. As part of our work, we designed an advertising campaign for an exciting new product. This involved designing posters, story-boarding a TV advert and writing and recording radio adverts. You can listen to one below:

Victorian Topic

During the topic on the Victorians, we had a Victorian classroom day. The children (and teachers) dressed up in Victorian costumes and we had a day experiencing what life would have been like for Victorian children at school. The children's costumes were fantastic. Thanks to parents, grandparents, friends.. for putting so much time into them. We also had a great day learning about Isambard Kingdom Brunel when we visited the SS Great Britain and Clifton Suspension Bridge.
