Year R

Hello and welcome to Year R!

All the children have now settled well into school routine and we have started some more focussed learning.  In literacy we have been working hard at listening, trying to identify sounds in words and recognising rhyme. You could help your child by playing listening games, saying rhymes, playing "I Spy" and similar activities.  Soon we will begin to learn our sounds (with "Jolly Phonics" actions) and will bring reading bags home for practice of sounds, words and talking books - books with no words to stimulate story telling.

In PSRN (Problem Solving, Reasoning and Number) we are working on counting objects carefully, reading numerals, shape and sorting and comparative measures - longer, shorter etc.

Friday is Fun Day in YR!  We abandon the routine of the rest of the week and experience art, craft, science, music, history and geography based activities.

Here is a video of some dancing we have been working on with Mrs Vye.
