St John's CEVC Primary School - Keynsham

St John's Church

St John's School is fortunate in having close links with St John's Church and with Keynsham Parish. Clergy from the church regularly visit the school to lead Collective Worship, as do lay members of the Schools Ministry Team. The school community - staff, parents and children - also enjoy special services that take place at St John's Church, including our Easter and Christingle services. The Christingle service has, in particular, been very moving, with every person in the Church standing in a circle around the Church holding a lit candle representing the shining of God's light into the darkness.

St John's Church, Keynsham

There is a regular "St John's School" page in the parish magazine, Contact, which keeps the parish in touch with the life of the school. This article is much appreciated by Church members, who enjoy reading about what is happening in school and who also regularly pray for the children and the work of the school.

The link between Church and school continues to grow and evolve, and indeed we are pleased to have links with a number of Churches within Keynsham. Over the last eighteen months, an ecumenical School Prayer Group has come into being, made up of a mixture of teachers, parents, grandparents and governors. It meets three times a year for around an hour in the evening to pray for the ongoing work of the school. If you would be interested in finding out more about the prayer group, please contact Roger Peach (Foundation Governor): roger@mwf.org.uk

The group next meets on Thursday, 11th February at 8pm. Please contact Roger Peach (above) or the school office for further details.

The Christian vision and foundation of the school is also supported and underpinned by the Church-School Link Group. This group meets termly and is made up of teachers, including the Religious Education and Collective Worship Coordinator, clergy from St John's Church and Foundation Governors.
