A poem for remembrance day
by Elise (Y6)
I remember
I remember how you used to smile,
I remember your sparking eyes,
I remember your golden hair,
And your laugh that filled the hall.
I remember your brave decision,
You went to war to fight for us,
I remember how you said to me,
"Don't worry, I'll be back soon."
I cried and I cried,
But still you left.
I remember the call,
And the news it brang,
But I still remember you,
Your warm smile,
Your sparkling eyes,
Your golden hair,
Your hall filling laugh,
And your brave decision.
I remember the day you left,
And the day you died.
This is why I wear this poppy,
I remember you.
