T1 2011
On the 11th of July 3 groups of year six children went to the Williams Formula one garage in Oxfordshire to race in the T1 final.
The children had to prepare a portfolio, presentation and a couple of pieces of writing about the national final and how they could improve their car, as well as a paper car to race. They made their car on a computer program called 2D design primary edition then cut it out using a robocutter which prints or scores depending on the colour of the line. They also had to do an experiment on air resistance where they strapped paper sail to the back of a toy bus which they dropped down a slope.
Alex Phantis, A member of the Hell on earth team told us that he was so proud of his team and school and he was shocked to win something. Seb M’Caw, a member of The royals team said “We didn’t win anything but it was still great fun”
The portfolio consisted of a letter to the judges as to why they should win, information about the experiment that they did, their logo, team name and their names. The Hell on earth team won the cup for the best presentation in which they had to talk about their team in front of judges for three minutes.
The trophy for the best presentation is currently in Mr Cottrell’s office and Y6 obviously greatly enjoyed it.
